Obituary
Claude Lee Lewis, Sr. was born September 30, 1945 to Charlie Howard Lewis and Ruby Edna (Chambers) Lewis at Allen Memorial Hospital in Bonham, Texas. He left his loving family on April 3, 2021 at TMC Bonham Hospital.
Claude married Judy Ann Pruitt on December 19, 1970 in Gober, Texas. They made their home on a small farm in Ravenna, Texas and had two children.
Claude proudly served his country as a Petty Officer Third Class in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. He learned to operate heavy equipment that later served him in his occupation. He was a master of many trades and could repair just about any kind of equipment. Claude loved spending time in the hay field with his nephew Alex.
His love of tinkering led him to participate in the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers Association. He enjoyed pulling "Ole Yeller" many weekends during the summer.
Claude loved to have a good time and never met a stranger. He would often engage in a conversation with whomever was standing near him! He loved to tell jokes and most mornings he could be found having breakfast at Braum's or cutting up with his buddy Ken. Most afternoons you could find him at the "office" (the VFW domino hall!)
For the past 20 years Claude proudly served as the Mayor of Ravenna, not for the title, but because he wanted to better his community and help his fellow neighbors.
Claude leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 50 years, two children, son, Claude Lee Lewis, Jr and wife, Rose of Ravenna and daughter, LeAnn (Lewis) Riveron and husband Armando of Speinshart, Germany, 5 grandchildren, Brent Yarborough, Elisa Chamberlain, Isabella Riveron, Adrian Riveron, and Ethan Riveron, 5 great grandchildren, Katyn Yarborough, Darian Yarborough, Chase, Landon, and Cooper Chamberlain, his brother, James D. Lewis and wife, Ruth of Ravenna, a number of nieces and nephews, including a great nephew, Alex Lewis of Ravenna, cousins, extended family and friends.
Psalm:23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
